So, on the evening of Wednesday, September 19th Chase and I were admitted into the hospital due to my relentless high blood pressure. After getting all situated in our room and hooked up to all their machines, it became clear that I was already having constant contractions. They were noticeable but not what I would consider to be painful. At that time I was dilated to a three.
Soon after, I was in the bathroom and my water broke on its own...all over the floor. After my water broke I really started to feel some intense contractions. The doctors decided to go ahead and give me pitocin and I was given some temporary pain meds through my IV so that I could just get some sleep. After getting a little sleep I woke up in a lot of pain and realized the I needed the epidural. The RN checked me and I was dilated to a five. I was in so much pain that I didn't even care about what all the epidural entailed. They were very quick about everything and before I knew it I was numb from the waist down. Chase and I were in and out of sleep all night until around six a.m when I was checked again and was fully dilated. It was time to start pushing!
After having a nice view of the sunrising and four hours of pushing, Baby M was born. The doctor placed her on me chest; she was gorgeous! They took her to another part of the room to clean her off, weight her, check her, etc. She was 8 lbs., 10 oz., and measured 21 inches long...and perfect.
Needless to say I was tired and do not really remember very much of the next hour or two. I know that she was checked my the hospitals' pediatrician and was given a clean bill of health. We were moved to a post delivery room were Chase, Baby M and I stayed for the next two days. We took some time on Friday to talk about what we wanted to name her and it didn't take long before we decided on Meredith Reese.
During our stay we had so many friends and family members come to meet Meredith. We came home on the afternoon of Saturday, September 22nd. Glen and Vicki had been staying with us and they had a decorated the house and had a full, home cooked meal ready for us.
It was the best experience of my life. Chase was right there with me the entire time. He was amazing and constantly supportive. We are so proud of our little family.
Here she is...
